Maintenance in Plant Facilities
The desire of Facility managers and CEO is to run plants without encountering major challenges that could cause drop in production as well as high downtime. This could be achieved by application of required maintenance strategies needed by respective equipment and units. Having a good maintenance culture ensures healthy conditions of the facilities. The importance of maintenance can not be over emphasized. Quality maintenance culture saves capital cost that could arise from purchase of new equipment; nonchalant attitude towards scheduled and non scheduled maintenance can lead to unexpected equipment failure which coult also be beyond repairs. Lack of good maintenance habit can also lead to Health and Safety issues as well as Fire and environmental hazards.
According to Wikipedia, the act of applying engineering concepts to optimize equipment or procedures thereby improving reliability and availability of equipment in the facility is maintenance. It involves periodic functional checks, repairs, replacement of parts and equipment, etc. The need for maintenance is born out of the fact that continuous running of equipment for a long time could be accompanied with wear and tear of parts that may be as a result of heat generated, faulty cooling system or loss of lubrication in case of mechanical parts. Some process have the tendency of causing corrosion on equipment over time; we study your process and determine the unique techniques needed for maintenance of your equipment.
Types of Maintenance
Maintenance can be classified as Preventive maintenance, Corrective maintenance, Shut down maintenance, Turn-around maintenance (T.A.M), and Breakdown maintenance. The worst type of maintenance is breakdown maintenance, where equipment is run till complete failure. This could be very expensive as it may require replacement of major parts or complete equipment. Preventive maintenance involves day -to -day functional checks to detect abnormalities and plan for safe shut down and correction. Maintenance could be scheduled after a specified number of running ours as could be stated by OEM documents or other experts/ bodies to ensure availability of equipment. At Isgrabachem Global Engineering system and Technical Services Limited, we plan and schedule preventive maintenance and condition monitoring for your pumps, compressors, blowers and critical static equipment.
Preventive maintenance points at the equipment that need repairs and or corrective actions. We have capacity to deliver maintenance activities on pumps, valves, heat exchangers, vessels, and reactors.
Turn around maintenance involves a complete shut down of the entire facility for total overhaul. It is a planned activity that is done at least once in three years. TAM increases the lifespan of the equipment and plant. We have expertise to undertake maintenance of critical equipment in your facilities during TAM.
